Longquan Yunlong Ge Ware Institution located at the area of Dayao National Archaeological of Site Park of Longquan Kiln in Longquan, Zhejiang, China. It is the place that the artist Wang Yunlong doing research and restore of Ge ware.
Ge ware (ge yao)
Ge ware (ge yao) is a type of celadon in Chinese pottery. It makes together with Guan, Ru, Ding, Jun up the “Five Great Song Wares”. Ge means "older brother" and the ware takes its name from one of two potter Zhang brothers in Longquan, Zhejiang, in Song dynasty. The elder brother (Zhang Shengyi) developed a very special type of ware; it was distinguished by crackled glaze “golden thread and iron wire”, and "purple mouth and iron foot" named Ge ware. The younger brother also developed a fine style of pottery, which was taken to be the best quality Longquan Celadon in Song dynasty.
Wang Yunlong
Wang Yunlong, born in Longquan, 1967, is the Ge Ware World Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritor. Wang Yunlong is one of the most representative figures in the recovery and inheritance of the Ge Ware firing technique. He completed and restored the ancient traditional formula and firing skills of Song Ge Ware. Wang Yunlong’s two works were selected into the world's first Ge Ware exhibition --The Palace Museum Ge Ware Exhibition in Beijing Forbidden City. And many works were collected by many Museums home and aboard.
